Purchasing Mediation

Identify together a quick & suitable solution for both parties

Michelin Purchasing Mediation acts at the request of any supplier, regardless of its size or business sector, that is experiencing difficulties in its relations with Michelin.

Should a supplier fail to obtain a satisfactory response from Michelin after initial discussions, it may turn to the supplier-customer relations mediator for help in resolving the issue quickly in a cooperative process. The Quality Director within the Purchasing Department is responsible for handling mediation.

The mediator gets involved only after the supplier has attempted to resolve the issue with its regular contacts within the Company, for example the purchasing agent in charge of a bid, the payment center or the contract manager. The mediator will not consider any requests that do not abide by this principle.

To launch the mediation process, the supplier must fill in the mediation form.

If no solution is found with the assistance of the internal mediator, the parties commit to use the services of a conventional external mediator.

The Michelin Group signed charter for responsible supplier relationships in October 2012 and is a true partner of Mediation between companies in France. Signing this charter is the extension of the publication of Michelin Purchasing Principles manual that formalizes the fundamentals that must exist between the Group, its purchasing teams and its suppliers worldwide.

Michelin was awarded the Responsible Supplier Relationships Label in March 2014 by the government's supply dispute mediators "Médiation Inter-Entreprises" (MIE) and "Médiation des Marchés Publics" (MMP) and the French purchasing association "Compagnie des Dirigeants et Acheteurs de France" (CDAF). The label recognizes French companies that maintain balanced supplier relationships over time.
